About Huế

Located in the center of Vietnam, Hué used to be the imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. Consequently, the city is today a very touristic destination where you can enjoy: the authentic monuments and architecture of this era, the tasteful vegetarian cuisine, the wonderful typical costumes, and even some day-trips to the Demilitarized Zone which shows several war settings.

This city is home to the Imperial Citadel in which quite a few emperors resided. The riversides of the Perfume river are quite nice as there are long parks with sculptures. It is easy to get around by foot: the old city and the citadel are on the north side and the newer city is on the south side.

Definitely bigger than Hoi An and more in the industrial type but still a good stop.

I'm in love with this city. Beautiful with a soothing atmosphere. So many things to see, and unfortunately not enough time. I will come back to this city.

Hue is unexpectedly interesting :) Lots of history and it's heritage, which is my interest.

Hue has a unique cultural identity, it's a small peaceful city full of lakes and canals. There is the Imperial City, you can have a nice walk in the evening by the riverbanks. On one side of the river you can find old part of the town, on the other side is the new part, where most of the hotels are. If you are interested in Vietnamese war, there is DMZ (demilitarization zone) close to Hue. Along the Perfume River there are pagodas, temples and tombs, which you can visit on a day trip by boat- booked in any hotel or tourist agency in Hue. Some of them you can also visit by motorbike or bicycle.

Take a day or two to explore Hue and it's sorroundings by bike. You'll get to see plenty of Temples or you head to the beach bars to relax.
Hue was very nice and peaceful. It took me 2 days for explore Hue cuisine but I could not try all foods because of its variety. I love wandering in Hue in a afternoon and waiting for the light in Trang Tien Bridge turned on. It was really fresh for me.
