About Singapore

Located at the extreme south of Malaysia, Singapore is a very international and multiethnic city-state. Being one of the four Asian Tigers, Singapore has capitalized on its assets (port-city, financial centre, oil refining centre, worldwide gambling market…) to grow over the years. If you want to sum up the Singaporean culture and way of life (art, cuisine…) you only need one word: diverse.

Huge city, where America meets Asia! Not too bad as a first stop, since it was a good way to adapt to the jet lag and the new continent. But this does not repredent Asia to me!

Is Singapore the Dubai of Asia, or is it the other way round? Anyhow, it's not a traveller's city. Everyone should avoid it, except if one has friends, relatives, or an "I-love-soulless-cities" OCD. It is certainly also an expat city, but even when you ask, what expats in Singapore like best, is getting out of the city!

Singapore is a beautiful city, there is always something going on. It's not so cheap but worth visiting.

Once arrived in Singapore you feel like you have not left Europe yet. It is a very unusual city for Asia, very europian and such as the perfect gateway to Asia without getting a total cultural shock. This city never sleeps. During the day it is crowded with business people and hundreds of tourists from all over the world. You can see most of them suffering a bit from the enormous humidity which can go up to 90%. But one gets used to it. There is so much to see, something for every taste! At night, Singapore turns into a dazzling hotspot. The sights, important buildings and the bridges crossing the Singapore River are lighted by hundreds upon hundreds of colourful little lights, which gives the city an almost magical impression. There are restaurants along the river, you can go on a night cruise or enjoy the various parties at Clarkes Quay.

Singapore is the most modern and definitly the cleanest city i've ever seen. Explore Singapore for a couple of days and enjoy the hawker food. Try to spend a weekend in Singapore to experience the nightlife.

This tiny country has it all....and all within less then an hour of traveling; beaches, great nightlife, good restaurants, nice shopping, a zoo, a race circuit and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel & Casino! It's a clean country, but also very expensive. This city is a good stop-over for just a few days on your way to another country.
