The Tribe's opinion

Like Medan, you will most likely only use Surabaya as a thru-point: the train ride to reach Yogyakarta is cheap and convenient! The city is very busy traffic wise and therefore very polluted. My guess is that you will want to leave as soon as possible and therefore you might want to stick to the train station area.
