Unfortunately I didn't get to see anything of Pai during the daytime. One afternoon 6 of us at SpicyThai Hostel decided to drive to Pai. Halve way to Pai one of the girls crashed, scratching up one side of her body. She was unable to ride any further. After taking over her motobike, so she could sit on the back of a motorcycle, we raced to Pai for medical supplies and a place to stay. Early the next morning we had to go back: the girl, me and the guy on the motorcycle, since she needed medical attention and he needed to catch a plane. We raced back to Chiang Mai as fast as we could, which I loved!! Racing the little crashed Yamaha like it was a racing motorcycle! So it was quite an adventure, just not the right one... I didn't get to see Pai, but the way to and from Pai is a really nice ride! (The girl ended up fine, just afraid to ride motobikes from then on. The guy caught his flight on time).

Time: round-trip. Price: free for me...Everything was taken care of as a gift: motobike, room and food.

  • If you don't ride motobikes often, watch out on those winding roads!

It's quite pretty and quiet...the drive to Pai. Once you're outside of Chiang Mai and you've taken that one left turn...it's great! Winding roads, hairpin bends, cliffs, jungle...Amazing surroundings!

Boutique hotel. Everything was brand new, clean, beautiful. Close to the center and shops. €20 is for a double room. Good for a splurge!
