About Damavand

A nice hike on an active 5,700m volcano. If you are lucky you'll see the Caspian sea, otherwise a sea of clouds which is also a good reward. If walk slowly enough to get used to altitude, you need 3 days (journey from Tehran included)

How I got here ?

Price: 2 €

Traveling time: 3 hours

Take a bus that can stop for you at the junction between the main road to North East and the final small road to Reynieh and hitch a ride for the last part.

User's opinion
You really don't need a guide. no difficulty. You just have to be careful with the montain sickness. There's a refuge at 4,300m. No need to book. We carried our own food and rented a burner. If you go to the refuge you'll have to pay an "mountain fee" of 50$, but can avoid it by sleeping in your own tent in a hided place. it's possible but you have to be well equiped as night ove 4,000m are windy & cold
