About Amman

Amman is not well-known for its historical interest and art of living. The city is crowded, polluted, streets hard to cross. But you can still enjoy the city which is also the reality of the country. Each people from Iraq, Palestine and Syria go to Amman to find peace and jobs. You will see then a pluricultural city and helpful people. For those who are in a hurry, Amman is used as a base camp for visiting the country. Jordan is very small, and you can go for the day to the dead sea and come back to Amman and so on.

It will take you no more than 15min. Surrounded by thousands of small ochre houses, this reminds us how old the city is.

It is not Persepolis, but quite interesting. Having a guide could be a good idea, but students who want to practice English, French or German will do it for free. Overhanging the whole city of Amman, the fortress offers a terrific 360° view of Amman. Do not hide a taxi to get there and prefer walking and getting lost in the tiny streets of Amman.

I didn't have a particularly good hotel. Just try those which are next to the one recommended by your guide book. Normally it will be much cheaper. Just prefer living in Amman Downtown. It's lively.

For one JD, you will plenty of pita, humus. For another 1JD you'll have 6 falafels more. As they have not enough tables, you will have to share yours with other people. An easy way to met people.
