About Airlie Beach

Airlie Beach is specialized in backpacking you will find there cheap hostels and accommodations. Most of all Airlie Beach is the departure point for two Australian treasures : the Whitsunday's Island and the Great Barrier Reef. We stayed there for two days and 3 nights but could have easily spent a extra night there. The Best formula is according to me, 2 days on one of the Island of the Whitsundays, including a night there followed by a day excursion on the Great Barrier Reef. Airlie Beach is really nice at night, you have many bars everywhere where you can meet other backpackers from around the world. These exchanges are priceless!

We discovered the Islands on a catamaran boat, is gives you the opportunity to discover the island from the Sea. It is best to spend a night in a hotel or camping on one of the islands.

A MUST SEE.... But the reef can only be appreciated fully under the water... if you can't ScubaDive at least spend a couple hours snorkeling. you will be discovering one of the most amazing UnderWater show in the world.
