A beautiful city to get lost in. Gorgeous architecture in seemingly endless laneways in the old town. One could (and I did!) spend several days aimlessly wandering the streets, continually discovering lovely spots for a (cheap) snack of tapas and sangria. Valencia was my introduction to Spain and my first stop on a European adventure. I was there as a base to visit the La Tomatina festival in Bunol, but Valencia turned out to be a city really worth visiting in itself. The weather was amazing, and I loved nothing more than sitting amongst beautiful old buildings enjoying a glass (or several) of cold sangria in the sun, or the warm night air, accompanied by tapas or Paella Valenciana. No matter where my aimless wanderings took me, I always found myself back in at the central fountain to regain my bearings. No need for a map!
