Florence is one of the Highlight of your trip in Italy that counts so many. You can't imagine how drop dead beautiful this City is before you actually see it with your own eyes. The city History and architecture is really worth you spending close to a week here, you'll discover new things everyday and appreciate what a beautiful country and culture Italy really is. If you're on a limited time Inter-rail trip, you'll be tempted to go fast through all the wonders the City has to offer but I suggest you take your time if you're not planning to go back to Florence anytime soon. This is the kind of City where you can get the Stendhal Syndrom (you feel ill because you can't assimilate the sheer beauty of what you're seeing). Don't worry about it, you'll get it in Venice as well ;)

Florence is by far the most beautiful city we visited in Italy. Walk to the centre and watch the sunset on a bridge, that is amazing :) The place is very romantic... and you can party there too. My favourite was when a musician set up a small outdoors concert by the church on the square, everybody gathered around with some beers and listened to him play some famous songs, GREAT night :D
